Credit transfer

In general, to obtain a US high school diploma, students will need to obtain 24 credits. However, Dual Diploma students will only need to take at least 8 courses to obtain 7 credits (this may vary slightly depending on the curriculum of each high school in Quebec) since up to 17 out of the 24 credits needed to obtain a US High School Diploma will be validated on the completion of the high school diploma. This means the completed credits obtained in Quebec will be awarded to the student so that they only need to complete at least 7 extra credits at the American Academy of Montreal, corresponding to 8 compulsory courses. However, again, it may be necessary for Quebec students to study extra courses depending on their school syllabus. This is provided they need, also, to complete 1 credit of PE/Health and 1 Credit of a Fine Art in Quebec and complete all their other requirements (3 Science, 4 Math, Electives) through their local program.
